The Meaning of Christmas
While many are busy shopping and stocking up early Christmas presents, I was wondering how many of us actually fully understand the meaning of Christmas?
Many thought Christmas is all about having fun, parties and a great Christmas dinner
Very often, people gathered at posh restaurants or anywhere else..tucked in 10 course Christmas dinner, do some silly countdowns, get drank and have a lousy hangover the next day.
So, exactly what is Christmas?
Christmas is a celebration for the birth of Jesus Christ.
It is a joyful occasion because it was out of Love that God gave the world His only Son, Jesus.
To be born in flesh, all pure and blameless to walk upon the earth 2009 years ago.
Has anyone remembered that Christmas is all about giving and loving just as He did?
Take a moment to ponder..
Be different..
Do something meaningful..
Show some love to the needy & poor..
Donate blood, give life..
Buy some groceries, deliver them to Old Folks Home
Call up some charity organisations, offer some help
Dont pretend to be asleep, offer your seat to that pregnant lady near the train door.
May all these will make your 2009 Christmas a more meaningful one ;)

Quotes
Dare to love and to be a real friend. The love you give and receive is a reality that will lead you closer and closer to God as well as those whom God has given you to love. -Henri J. M. Nouwen

The desire of love is to give. The desire of lust is to get.- Ed Cole
The proof that you love someone is not that you have warm affectionate feelings toward them. The proof is in your actions, your words and your sacrifice, your willingness to give the best of yourself and your willingness to get nothing in return. -Katherine Walden

Life at 35,000 Feet
Congratulations to the start of a wonderful flying career, Alvin!
I remembered your passion and the sparkle in your eyes when I share with you stories of 35,000 feets above..and the disappointment when God closes one door and opens another one in Jetstar :) Trust in His wisdom that the Father know the best for His children!
Finally, you will be getting your wings soon!
The things you will learn in coming weeks will probably be fixing of cocktails, various airline codes, safety evacuation procedures, first aid, etc..
As much as these trainings equip you to be a certified crew, there are some others that you must remember dearly..
1. Humility
An efficient crew is knowledgeble with his inflight duties, but it is humility that makes him a good crew to clean up baby pukes, poos, lavatory mess and ensuring his passengers & fellow crews' needs comes before his own.
Be both Good & Efficient Crew.
2. Integrity
Onboard the plane, crews work in confined spaces. They are unique individuals with own set of personality. Be tolerent when someone dont do things the way you want them to be.
When tempers flares for whatever reasons and unkind words are spoken or exchanged, keep it within that specific flight.
Learnt it and do not take it personal.
Develop good flying enthics by not joining in the zapping game.
Refrain from gossip games, whatever goes around only comes around.
3. Appreciation
It is within crew culture to give thanks.
Say 'Thankyou' whenever a task is accomplished. (At end of flights or when the galley crew fix an ad-hoc request for you)
Apologise..when mistakes are made.
Eat the humble pie and say 'Sorry'..to save yourself the painful zapping.
As naggy as I may sound, a few of my batch girls didnt made it the first 6 months.
Ended up bitter after paying the bond, quit and left for good.
All because they wasnt aware of the above that were untaught during training.
They thought it was only glamour and a fitting kebaya to walk down the aisle.
Take plenty of photos and eat cusines around the world.
Enjoy winter, spring, autumn and summer!
Come back and share with me your own stories at 35,000 feet :)
Best of Luck, Sonny!
May He grant you mercy journey for every flight!

Ice-Cream & Slurpee
This is the first time I've gotten myself ill in 2009, I'm fit as Hercules on usual days ;)
Keep my fingers crossed that it is not some swine flu thingy.
'No amount of medicine works for me', I told the kind Doctor.
'Huh?' She stared bewildered.
'A jumbo size Slurpee and few ice-creams will do the trick.' I croaked in my new man-ly voice.
Insanly left the clinic armed with only 1 MC and enough cough syrup to standby for the cough to set in after the slurpee remedy.
The Doctor must have thought the fever has turn me into a nutcase.
Folks!! I am not kidding!!
The crushed fine ice in Slurpee soothes and numbs my irritated throat, it really works wonders!
And the Magnum ice-cream provides some cheap nutrients when there is no appetite even for the most tantalising dish.
You guys should try the slurpee remedy when Sorethroat pops by to say 'Hello' next time ;)
Feeling darn miserable now & I want my big bear hug..when this uninvited 'guest' says Goodbye!

Farmer versus Hunter
I label this as ‘Hunter’ versus ‘Farmer’ in business context.
A hunter is someone who hunts for potential deals and nails it while a farmer sows the seeds and gathers the harvest which the latter is often a more exhausting one.
No doubt life will be good to settle for the well established, but I prefer to sow, plough and nurture before the harvest.
Call me a sadist, but it is in times of facing difficulties, solving problems and differences together that build relationships on solid ground.
Besides, you are missing out the experience of witnessing your partner turning from pauper to prince.
How can I miss that out? I won’t spare him (God knows where?) the teasing on the humility lessons he learnt from pauper to prince.
I appreciate your kind efforts, but let me know if you have paupers instead of Ferraris yeah?
Oh yes! A pauper with a big tolerent heart for my constant teasing and bullying.
Hahahaha... * evil winks*
Why Should I say 'Sorry'?
In my flying years, I can’t recall the countless time ‘Sorry’, ‘Thank you, ‘Trouble you.” were exchanged in the tiny galley.
To all crew wanabes, this is the cabin crew culture ok! :)
One does not walk away a loser when mistakes are admitted and apologies said.
In contrast, it reflects humility on self and the precious life lessons only adds to one’s advantage.
My heart softens when forgetful waitress or fellow MRT commuters say sorry when orders are forgotten and sardine-squeezing during peak hours.
I feel ‘enlightened’ when I read an article Gabriel sent today ;)
This sentence particularly strikes an impact on me, “Mistakes, in my opinion, are not opportunities to chastise or place blame, they're opportunities to learn and improve."
For the full article, you may refer to http://msn.careerbuilder.com/Article/MSN-1702-Workplace-Issues-Should-You-Admit-a-Mistake/?cbsid=f0ccd31a84d344ca98ef5dd5112fc8cd-296116058-VQ-4&sc_extcmp=JS_1702_msnbc&cbRecursionCnt=2&SiteId=cbmsnbcsl41702&ArticleID=1702>1=23000
So my Dearest Folks, next time you are stuck in an argument with your girlfriend/boyfriend, colleagues or anyone..
Take the opportunity to say ‘Sorry’ first, I bet you will be surprised with his/her soften heart, just like mine too *winks*
You will realize saying ‘Sorry’ is no longer the hardest word in the dictionary ;)

~Quotes~
You don’t love someone for their looks, or their clothes, or for their fancy car, but because they sing a song only you can hear.
He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.
Love is being stupid together.
If you judge people, you have no time to love them.
Love comes when manipulation stops;
When you dare to reveal yourself fully.
When you dare to be vulnerable.
Be who you are and say what you feel;
because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.

Give the Gift of Life
The moment someone stops breathing, he has only 4 minutes to get oxygen to his brain or suffer permanent brain damage. Another 3 minutes, for the heart to stop beating completely.
Let's put this in real life scenario..
What are the common traits when someone collapse in a shopping mall?
1. People form a circle and crowd around, depleting more oxygen
2. Nobody helps and precious time slips by.
3. Finally, some kind soul alert the security officer who then takes his time to call 995.
By the time paramedics arrived, the poor casualty has almost used up his 7 minutes grace.
The chances of resuscitating the casualty drops to 0.19 percent.
Please don't be eaten up by the society's selfish and ignorant attitude..
I understand we are not saints or angels..
But if we are equipped with basic life saving techniques..
We can give someone a Gift and the Gift which I named it 'The Gift of Life'
Folks, this is not being saintly or anything..
But to picture myself as the casualty,I will desperately want someone to help me!!

Let Sleeping Dogs Lie
As usual, I asked for the cause only to realise that the Boyfriend couldn't stand M from taking about her past relationships into their existing one. The Boyfriend finally threw in the towel after M laments about the 'Ex' all day during the period of their relationship.
M, why?
Why do you choose to dwell and talk about the past?
Although I agree that we learn our flaws from the mistakes we made, but shouldn't you be accepting your Boyfriend as an unique individual?
Why blur the present with the past?
As the saying goes, 'Let Sleeping Dogs Lie', my friend!
Move on..please!
There is whole lot more interesting stuffs to do other than talking about your 'Ex'..
Go..plan a pinic, be like kids..have fun at the zoo/sentosa/night safari or even challenge him to do something he is afraid to.
Please, just let sleeping dogs lie..forever

Thin is Not SEXY
I shared with nobody about my aneroxia issues when I was 19 because I feel proud secretly of being one at that time. Standing at 1.73m, my minimum weight at that time was 49kg.
Ms. Australia weighs 49kg too, except that she is much taller at 1.75m.
My eating problems begins when I was shortlisted for an airline job. Not that I was overweight or anything, just that the rest of my batchgirls are really petite and THIN. I was really jealous of their tiny frame!
It all started when a batch girl passed me some laxatives, she told me that it works on her.
I started taking it and went to the doctor to request for more. The doctor gave despite I had a healthy BMI.
In addition to taking the laxatives, I started counting calories.I gave excuses to miss meals and drink water when my body was begging for food. It started with missing one meal initially but eventually I stopped eating entirely. To act normal in front of my peers, I eat very slowly and gave excuses that I couldnt finish my meals. Or will just go for Milo when everybody is eating a normal meal.
My weight drop to 54kg in 2 weeks, I was overjoyed.
I continue with my disgusting ways to eat rotten food to induce diarrhoea, or digging my throat to induce vomitting after my meals. I also overdosed on the laxatives by taking twice the amount the doctor prescribed.
And I stop eating entirely because there was no hunger pangs. To stay alive I drink Pokka lemon tea.
I will stand naked before the mirror in my room, admiring the protruding ribcage, hipbones and sunken cheeks. There was no boobs left to fill even a cup A. I feel proud when my neighbours 'kaypoh' to my mum that I look too thin. I feel proud when I walk into fashion stores asking for size small or 24 inch pants. Eventually, I weighed only 49kg.
I blended in well with the rest of the girls because everyone was pencil THIN. But the auntie who tailored made my kebaya was nagging non-stop about the extra work she needs to do as the kabaya seems 'too big' for me everytime.
I feel lathargic, suffered irregular heartbeats, dry mouth and often breaks out in cold sweat. These are our body internal defence to guard remaining body mass.
On the way back from airline training centre, I felt a sudden numbness on the left side of my body. Being medically sound, I know the numbess on one side was either for stroke or epilepsy fits. These happens when the body sugar level is too low, the low blood count cause the heart to pump insufficient blood to the brain causing either fits or stroke.
I grab an ice-cream sundae at Mac's to load on the sugar. It is the fastest way to stay alive as the dissolved milk and chocolate will provide some cheap nutrients and sugar to my weak body.
I stop dieting & started eating..although I still count calories these days.
Many times, young girls envy the job I have but they wasn't aware of the ugly truth behind the beautiful faces. I'm not keen to share the details so as not to dampen their passion for flying.
Now, I weigh 57kg & the fats fills in the right places. It feels sexy to be curvy and comfortable in your own skin. Although, I missed the ribcage protruding days..some tone up at the gym will do the trick too :)
The main intention of posting this on my blog is to remind all young women that thin is not sexy. A sexy woman should physically have some curves and feels comfortable in her own skin. I think that is so irresistable *winks*
If you are also battling with aneroxia, please seek help! Aneroxic can kills!

Sinful Thoughts
Faith.Love&Hope
Painful it may be..it didn't kill me, yet it make me stronger :)
It allows me to grow in wisdom and courage..something which I apparently lacks.
'God works in mysterious ways.' Matthew, my colleague comforted over lunch.
Yes, He surely did!!
Blessed with a change of team and new boss, the change was a welcoming one & I love it :)
The departure also brings new friendships and deepens existing ones.
Peiyu, Huiying, Shiyun, Jay, Andrew, JJ, Edmund, Melissa, Alvin, Claris and a dozen more..
And thank you Matthew for covering all my work duties in my absence..
I am deeply humbled & grateful with the outpour of love from all of you :)
No longer do I dwell in self pity nor sadness, for I've found my peace & love.
I was just sharing with jay moments ago my enthusiam to start class in Oct and my dream of becoming a school teacher :)
Hey Children, give me another 5 years to quit the rat-race..and we will celebrate Children & Teacher's day together!!
You've become part of History..
May you find peace, love and a sense of belonging too!
A friend once asked me if I have developed any phobia or fear out of this..
And the answer is strangely..No!!
The Maker tenderly heals & prepares..
When He closes one door..He opens another..
Have faith in Him..all Children of God
For the Father never gives a stone when his Children ask for a fish.
Let's continue to love the World just like Jesus did :)
Love all of you so much!

Victoria Secrets
Thy Faithful Love
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20090406/tap-australia-animal-dog-offbeat-5a1703c.html
It may just be another survival tale to majority of you but let me share the unspoken love & will-power behind :)
What exactly drives a weak animal to swim 5 miles, eat carcasses & struggle for survival for 4 months?
Was it just sheer will-power alone?
Or was it something else?
To be honest, I can't even swim 5 miles in our friendly swimming pools (okay, I admit I'm lazy), let alone 5 miles in an open sea..taking in considerations the sea currents and waves.
Dogs are not born good swimmers, they do not have web-feet and usually paddles to keep afloat.
But this dog swam 5 miles to shore, weak and exhuasted.
Sophie was on the brink of dying.
But wait!!
As Sophie laid weak and dying on the island, something stirred in her.
Her love & devotion for her family, the children and the sweet old house..she called Home.
With the deepest love for her human family, it gives her a new sense of strong will-power to survive, in hope to see them again.
And mind you..Sophie is a house pet, and most prob was fed decent dog food not some dead goats. She put aside her needs, did all she can to survive 4 long months.
And finally, feel her JOY when she was reunited with her family :)
Sophie did not gave up hope when she was struggling alone in the teacherous sea and stuck on a remote island for 4 months (not 4 weeks/days).
The deep love for her human family gavesher hope and kept her going.
Now, how many of us gave up halfway in our pursue for something?
It can be a promotion at work..that you've been working very hard for or a lady/gentleman that you really adores.
Go..adopt the same will-power and bravery just like Sophie did ;)
If you have worked hard and contributed significantly, be brave and ask for that well-deserved promotion.
And..if you have been adoring that sweet lady or gentleman, be brave and share your feelings.
You could be on Cloud 9 if she/he reciprocates and a little bit disappointment if the good doesn't happens.
Well, at least now you can set your eyes on someone new.
So..with Will-power and Bravery, I shall attempt to swim 20 laps tomorrow.
Watch out for a sun-kissed me next week *winks*

And I've begin to take her presence for granted.
But despite all these, her love for me remains steadfast and true.
In exchange for these, she'll always there to share my joy, witness my tears and feel my anger.

High Maintenance
Caught off guard by this awkward question, I was unable to gave him an answer.
How exactly does 'high maintenance' apply in this aspect?
Let's go back to Basic..the defination of 'Maintenance' as according to the Dictionary.
Maintenance-Noun
1.the act of maintaining.
2.the state of being maintained
3.care or upkeep, as of machinery or property
4.means of upkeep, support, or subsistence; livelihood: to provide a comfortable maintenance.
Alright, now we've got the defination..
Next, we will try to fit this noun into my daily life to see if 'high maintenance' is the appropriate noun.
Transport: SMRT Yishun ->Sommerset/Sommerset->Yishun

A Beautiful You~
During the coffee session, she was lamenting about how much her boyfriend neglected her, his irritable traits and other unfavorable details. It sounds really familar, doesn't it?
Many times in life, we always demand more time, more gifts and more attention from our partners.
Have we truly provided the same for them?
Dearest M, if you happen to chance upon this Blog..
I think it will do your relationship good if you can ponder about the question i posted above.
Guys, being boys and social creatures..
Go..let them run free with their buddies..let them go booze, be silly and catch all those football matches.
Be cool with it and don't check on him every hour/minute :)
Yeah, Damn!!
Most prob you're gonna feel lonely without his accompany. I truly understand this..
But wait!
Don't feel sorry for yourself. (The feeling is just hellish, i know)
Keep yourself busy by acquiring a new skill or pursue a hobby.
Wear your favourite dress + highest heels and strut the orchard road like a supermodel *winks*
Go on a short detox to clear out impurities and pimples.
Make the effort to excerise and lose 1 or 2 kg.
Wear your bikini and go for a good swim
Most guys will be grateful for the short breakaway with their buddies and it kills 2 birds with 1 stone with your new body, new skills and new friends :)
See, actually..self-actualization can be attained w/o him right?
But what if the good never happens?
Remove your slippers and smack some sense into him ;)
If it doesn't works..
Then..It is time to reconsider the relationship, dear M..
But fear not..with the new body, new skills and new friends, you have nothing to lose!
And most importantly, I will be there for more coffee sessions *winks*
Hope you feel better after this :)
And remember, You are Beautiful~
~hugs~

Beauty & Brains
Our dearest Ms. Universe 2008 who hails from Venezuela quoted on her Blog that ' Guantanamo is so relaxing, so calm & beautiful. I don't want to leave this place. It was an incredible experience!'
Oh Gosh, is she aware that Guantanamo is the shame and disgrace of USA?
To turn a torture camp into a prefered holiday destination is definately something I've never heard of.
Check out the article on this URL:
http://sg.news.yahoo.com/afp/20090402/tts-venezuela-us-guantanamo-people-972e412.html
Neverthless, I believe Donald trump has signed her up for some enrichment programs.
To side-track a little, the Ms. Universe Pageants are fully owned by Billionaire, Donald Trump- the man behind the The Apprentice.
I am equally guilty of making a similar statement recently while on a car ride with Gabriel.
Shame on me to say 'I've a friend who stayed in Persian' only to be corrected that Persian is a nationality, not a country. Ouch!
And to further prove my dumb state of mind, Gabriel continue to enlighten that Iran is the new state name for Persia.
I feel shameful but also hilarious in a form of self-depreciating joke.
To all Beautiful women out there, lets strive to be wisdom-filled and crush the traditional belief that beauty cannot co-exist with brains.
And yes! No more Persia or Persians..Only Iran and Iranians :)
love you all..
The Virgin Attempt
Yes! I am excited about sharing my wonderful world with all of my beloved friends and acquaintances.
But why titled 'My Wonderful World' instead of other fancy names?
Because the Book of Wisdom says to give thanks in all circumstances.
As simple as that, be thankful and look at the world with joy & simplicity..dosen't that make it a wonderful world?
